The Importance of Expert Advice
3 months ago I had my first Begin Bright Board Meeting. It was a momentous occasion for me as I had searched for experts that had the knowledge I needed and asked (begged) them to work with me.
We're at a point with the growth of Begin Bright where the experts are needed to guide us through our next exciting growth phase. Each month we meet to talk strategy, to get their advice and to keep me accountable. Yesterday though was our first full day strategic planning meeting headed up by Alan Anderson. We mapped out the next 5 years, then worked out what we need to do each year to make that happen, especially in the next 12 months and then made the 90 day action steps to turn the pipe dreams into reality.
I've always had high hopes and a massive vision for Begin Bright but never known whether I can actually pull it off. It looks so doable on paper but the reality is always much harder and takes longer. With ten years of training though, I feel like it's game day. It's time to take all of that practice and knowledge and lessons along the way and to achieve the dream. With the A team on board validating my strategies and ideas I feel capable and strong enough to lead the way through.
Since I started in business at 20, I've always sought out people that had the experience that I lacked. I've always had great enthusiasm for learning and giving everything a go, but now I've reached 30 (so old, I know!) it's even clearer how much knowledge comes purely with age and just having done so much stuff. Michael Sherlock and Alan Anderson have stack loads of knowledge, experience and even bigger hearts. "There are things known and things unknown and in between are the doors" - Jim Morrison. My Board is what's opening the doors to Begin Bright's future. Business coaches, advisors and having a board can propel your business into the level and spur you on to turn your dreams into a reality. Someone's got to be successful, it may as well be you!
